Philautus hosii (Hose’ Bush Frog) is a medium-sized frog with a sharp-edged snout. This species lives in primary or old secondary forests, from near sea level to about 600 m in both flat and hilly terrain. It is known from many places in Sabah and Sarawak. The Hose’ Bush Frog has a visible eardrum. The tips of its fingers are expanded into wide, round pads. Webbing on the fingers is limited to a narrow fringe at their base and the toes are almost fully webbed. There are two weak rows of small bumps forming an open V between the shoulders and several small bumps on the upper eyelid and also no fleshy spines at the heel. This frog has yellowish to dark sandy brown in colour, usually with a dark triangle between the eyes and a thin dark X-shaped mark on the back. The sides have faint streaks of yellow. The upper third of the iris is pale gold and the lower portion of the iris is light greyish brown (Inger & Stuebing, 2005).
