Leptomantis gauni (Short-nosed Tree Frog) is a small slender-bodied tree frog with a very short snout and prominent, bulging eyes. It is known from Sabah and Sarawak where it inhabits primary forest in hilly country from near sea level to 750 metres. It also often found in vegetation overhanging the riffles of clear, rocky streams. This species has smooth upper surfaces body with a small, sharply pointed, vertical projection near the edge of the upper eyelid and a white spot can clearly be seen below its eye. There are also small pointed projections at the heel and between the heel as well as the base of the outer toe. The colour of the back is usually light tan with several large dark spots while the hidden surfaces of the thighs are rich golden yellow. Each male and female can be reaching size of about 26-30 mm and 35-38 mm respectively (Inger & Stuebing, 2005).
