1. What is Malaysia Biodiversity Information System (MyBIS) ?
Malaysia Biodiversity Information System (MyBIS) will facilitate information exchange and promote international technical and scientific cooperation. It will function as a mechanism for the efficient transfer and sharing of information on biological diversity, in Malaysia, as well internationally. Finally, it will serve as a one-stop portal for the sharing of relevant information on the status of conservation and biodiversity management using the World Wide Web with the cooperation between the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment (NRE) and various agencies involved.

2. What are the contents / modules available in MyBIS?
The modules available in MyBIS are Discover Module, Explorer Module, Analysis Module and References Module.

3. Where do I need to visit to look for the further information about diversity species of flora and fauna?
You can visit MyBIS website through www.mybis.gov.my to view or do a searching for further information on the species of flora and fauna in Malaysia.

4. How can I contribute to the MyBIS database?
User have to register in order to contribute to the MyBIS database. Contributions such as opinions, ideas and species information such as images etc. are welcomed to improve the system and data provided.

5. How to register as a member of MyBIS community?
To register,

1. Click the "mybis" icon > 2. Click Register > 3. Enter your information


1.Click the "mybis" icon > 2. Click "Log in" > 3. Click Sign up > 4. Enter your information.

Then, you will receive an activation message from MyBIS on your email.

6. What if I forgot the password?
For forgotten password, please click on the link ‘Forget your password’ below the Login button at the Login page.

7. What kind of data that I can contribute to MyBIS?
The type of data you can contribute to MyBIS includes species’ images, its morphological characteristics, reference materials, species taxonomy data, the local name of the species, habitats and species conservation status (IUCN status).

8. What are the advantages that I would get if I contribute data in MyBIS?
Each individual involved in contributing data will have their name credited as one of the contributors in MyBIS system.

9. What should I do if I mistakenly gave the wrong information?
If the information contributed changes or incorrect, please email the correct information and reference materials on relevant information to the administrator via email at hello@mybis.gov.my
