Abstract

World Otter Day, an event observed on the last Wednesday of May each year, which fell on May 27 in 2026. Otters are semi-aquatic carnivorous mammals with waterproof fur, webbed feet, and aerodynamic bodies that eat fish and crustaceans while playing a crucial role in balancing aquatic ecosystems. The second poster details four specific otter species: the Hairy-nosed Otter (Lutra sumatrana), Eurasian Otter (Lutra lutra), Asian Small-clawed Otter (Aonyx cinereus), and Smooth-coated Otter (Lutrogale perspicillata). For each species, the poster provides its scientific name, physical dimensions (size and weight), and IUCN conservation status, ranging from Near Threatened to Endangered.
