Locally known as Senyamok, Guioa diplopetala is a type of shrub or tree that can grow up to 10 m tall with up to 1.3 m in diameter. The dark brown outer bark is smooth with grey patches to grey-white. The leaves appear in two forms, in which one of them with very broad and hairy leaflets, while the other with very small, slender and glabrous leaflets. The white flowers are measured around 3-4.5 mm wide. The fresh fruits turn from red to blackish when dry.  It is distributed in Myanmar, Cambodia, Vietnam, Thailand, Sumatra, Peninsular Malaysia (except Perlis, Terengganu and Melaka), Java, Borneo and Sulawesi. It is common in lower montane forests, at 750-1,700 m altitude, secondary or heath forests. The species epithet is derived from two Greek words, ‘diplos’ means double, and ‘-petalon’ means petal, which refers to the petals with broad scales on the inside (van Welzen, 2017).
