This fungus is thick, slightly thicker at the point of attachment, hemispherical, flattened, woody and hard. The surface is smooth with concentric zones of dirty dark brown to black. Its pore surface is purplish buff and pores minute while its basidiocarps are sessile and broadly attached to the substrate. This fungus grows on dead branches and wood in the forest.
