Description

Plectocomiopsis geminiflora or commonly known as rotan gilang, is a large, spiny, clustering, dioecious and hapaxanthic rattan to 50 m tall forming rather dense thickets. Its sheaths are normally dull green with persistent grey tomentum and scattered caducous reddish-brown scales and abundant scattered golden-yellow spines to 8 mm long. This species is widely distributed in Borneo, Sumatra, Peninsular Malaysia and southern Thailand.
