Description
Commonly known as the Lemon Emigrant, Catopsilia pomona gets the name from its habit of migration. It is a medium-sized butterfly with a wingspan about 6.0 to 7.4 mm long. This species distributed from South China through Southeast Asia as far as the Solomon Islands and northern Australia. It can be found in open countries, gardens, villages, parks, waysides and the forest edges. This butterfly is flying fast at moderate height and often seen where the ornamental host plants of Senna are grown (Kirton, 2014).
The Lemon Emigrant has pale yellowish-green to orange-yellow wings with a black upperside borders. The reddish-brown rings or patches are present on the underside of subsp. pamona but are absent in subsp. crocale (Kirton, 2014).
