Leptobrachium smithi is a frog species that has a wide head and it is as wide or wider than the body with large eyes. Its arms are proportionally long, the legs are short and almost no webbing. The tibiotarsal articulation of this species are reaching between shoulder and eye. The hind legs are strongly banded. Normally, the habitat of this species is in the primary forest. In Ulu Muda Forest Reserve, this species can be found on forest floor amongst leaf litter. This species can be found in Thailand, Malaysia, Indonesia and Myanmar.
