Description
Leptomantis angulirostris (Masked Tree Frog) is a small-sized frog with a wide head that has been found only in primary submontane and montane forests (IUCN SSC Amphibian Specialist Group, 2018). It commonly perches along clear, rocky stream above 1000 m. It is known only from the mountains of western Sabah (Inger & Stuebing, 2005).
This species has a short pointed snout with sharp edges. The skin is smooth on its head and back but granular on the chest and belly. The toes, except for the fourth, are webbed to the base of the pads while the two outer fingers are fully webbed to the pads. The Masked Tree Frog is pale grey-green to sandy brown in colour. Some individuals have dark crossbars on the back and white spots on the side of the head or body. The sides of the body and the inner surfaces of the legs are usually yellow with several large black spots. The chest and belly are pearly white (Inger & Stuebing, 2005).
