Staurois latopalmatus (Rock Skipper) is a medium-sized frog belongs to family Ranidae. It is an endemic species to Borneo and is known from Brunei, Kalimantan, Sabah and Sarawak. This frog can only be found on clear, swift, rocky stream especially those with a vertical surface, either on the bank or in mid-stream where it perches on rocks (IUCN SSC Amphibian Specialist Group, 2018).
The Rock Skipper has neither stocky nor slender body. Its snout is very short, rounded, and slopes back from the upper surface to the mouth while the legs are long and very heavily muscled. All the upper surfaces are black with short, narrow yellowish or whitish markings. The underside is white or pale cream (Inger and Stuebing, 2005).
