This frog is native to Malaysia and Indonesia where it was found occurring in eastern Sarawak, Malaysia and Pulo Serasan in the Bungaran Islands, Indonesia. It can be found on the banks of small streams and amidst leaf litter in hilly, lowland rainforests and breeds in small, clear, rocky streams (IUCN SSC Amphibian Specialist Group, 2019).
