Description

An epiphytic and sympodial plant, this species flowering in August and can be found in Peninsular Thailand, Vietnam, Sumatera, Bangka, India, Borneo, Singapore, and Peninsular Malaysia. In Perlis, this plant was found at Gunung Perlis on mossy tree branches and in shady and wet habitat. The sepals are dull yellowish with brownish purple lines and curved backwards while the petals are ovate, convex and tip blunt. The stems are covered with papery sheaths, green when young, yellow when old and branched with internodes at about 7 mm – 3.3 cm long. The pseudobuls of this species are 2 – 4.8 cm apart, fusiform, widest at middle, slightly flattened, yellowish green and measure at about 2 – 4.8 cm long with only one leaf. The leaf is shiny at the upper surface but dull at lower surface, narrowly lanceolate, fleshy, bilobed minutely apex, base sessile, midrib sunken at upper surface and prominent on lower surface. The inflorescence of this species are abaxial which at the back of leaf with single-flowered.

Sympodial   —   A specialized lateral growth pattern in which the apical meristem is terminated and growth is continued by one of more lateral meristems, which repeat the process.
