A small, long-billed, nectar-feeding birds, known scientifically as Arachnothera longirostra can be found in forest, logged and secondary forest up to about 1,500 m above sea level. They are also often seen in the garden around colourful flowers from which nectar is extracted. However, these birds were known as spiderhunters for their preferred diet which is spiders.
A. longirostra, also known as Little Spiderhunter is the commonest of its group. It has olive-green upperparts, greyish on the head with obscure moustache streak, whitish throat grading onto its olive breast, yellow abdomen and under tail-coverts. The little orange tufts are occasionally visible at the bend of its wings but more present in males than in females.
