The Short-tailed Frogmouth is a type of bird in the family Podargidae. It is endemic to the island of Sumatra in Indonesia (Avibase, 2020).
Previously, it was found in the Malaysia region (MNS Bird Conservation Council. 2015). After recent discovery, there is a split between this species and the Bornean frogmouth (Batrachostomus mixtus), where the latter is being occurred in Malaysia (Avibase, 2020).
