Green Turtle or Penyu Agar in Malay is one of four sea turtle species that are known to nest in Malaysia. It can be identified by the small, blunt head with a single pair of prefrontal scales, non-overlapping carapace scutes, the heart-shaped carapace, hookless upper jaws and forelimbs with single claw (Das, 2010). The juvenile species are carnivorous while adult feeds almost exclusively on sea grass and therefore inhabits shallow coastal area with clear water and a sandy bottom. Females deposit one or more clutches of about 100 eggs over the course of a nesting season. The eggs hatch about two months after laying a night-time dash across the beach.
