Gerard’s Water Snake has proportionally long, smooth body scales and the broad ventrals are not keeled. The snake is uniform grey or brown above while the belly is light brown with a median dark streak. It inhabits coastal and tidal areas, including mangroves and estuaries. It feeds mainly on fish, soft-shelled crabs and shrimps (Das, 2010). It is distributed in Bangladesh, Cambodia, India, Malaysia, Singapore and Sri Lanka.
