Description
Elongated Tortoise is an attractive forest tortoise and only species in the area with a greatly enlarged supracaudal scute above the tail. The tortoise has yellow with black blotches of variable size and density on its carapace. Males become slightly larger than females and develop a deep plastral concavity. Juvenile has a rounded shell and grow more in length than in width. This species prefers deciduous and evergreen forests where it browses on shoots, buds, fruits, mushrooms, dead animal matter and slugs to consume (Das, 2010). 1-7 eggs are laid by female late in the rainy season, which hatch early in the next rainy season.
