Description
Scietifically known as Corvus macrorhynchos, the Large-billed Drongo is a common crow mainly found in mangroves, forest edge, beach scrub, open country, plantations and wooded gardens. This species is known to inhabit the canopy or crown of smaller trees either in pairs or in small groups (Jeyarajasingam & Pearson, 2012).
With measurements around 50 cm, the Large-billed Crow is a large size bird with glossy black plumage all over the body. It has a large bill with arched culmen that is noticeable in male but less in the female. The nest is built on tall trees near open country and rural areas. It also known to utter two type of calls which are short harsh ‘gaerah-gaerah’ or long ‘kaaaa’ especially in flight (Strange & Jeyarajasingam, 1993).
