Description
The Common Butterfly Lizard is characterized by the small dorsal spots, not connecting to form a network or longitudinal lines and the large, bold, orange and black marks along the entire flank. Three to eight eggs are laid by female in her burrow during the dry, hot period and striped juveniles with a reddish tail show themselves after the first heavy rains. Before digging their own burrow nearby, the young share their mother’s burrow for several months.
