The black drongo (Dicrurus macrocercus) is a tiny Asian passerine bird belonging to the drongo family. It is an all-black bird, which measures around 28 cm (11 in) long and has a recognisable forked tail. It is widespread throughout its range and it is ubiquitous in open agricultural regions and light forests, perching prominently on telephone or power wires or on a bare perches. Its diet mainly feeding on insect. The species is infamous for acting aggressively toward much larger birds, such as crows, and is noted for dive-bombing any prey that enters its territory. This black drongo is listed as Least Concern by the IUCN Red List (BirdLife International, 2016).
