Description
The green imperial pigeon (Ducula aenea) is a large forest pigeon, which belongs to the Columbidae family. The total length of this pigeon is measured up to 43 cm long (Jeyarajasingam, 2012). The male and female have the same characteristics. They have the same colour on the back, wings and tail which are metallic green colour. Meanwhile, the head and underparts are white, and the undertail part are maroon. The green imperial pigeon has a deep and resonant voice. They are known as arboreal dove, feeding plant material in the tree canopy. Their flight characteristics are fast and direct, with consistent beats and sporadic quick wing flicks. They are not very gregarious, but they will form small flocks, sometimes they can be found alone or in pairs during the breeding season. They breed during summer until the beginning of the rainy season. They builds the nest roughly with dry branches, and the nest is not very high from the ground. Normally, they lay 1 to 2 eggs in average.
