Description
The little pied flycatcher (Ficedula westermanni) is a flycatcher species in the family Muscicapidae. It is found in the Indian Subcontinent and Southeast Asia. It is naturally occurring above 1,000 m a.s.l. in Larut Hills, the Titiwangsa Range south to Genting Highlands, Gunung Benom, Gunung Tahan, Gunung Padang and Gunung Rabong (Jeyarajasingam, 2012). The male stands out for his distinctive black and white striping. Meanwhile, the female is distinctive in her simplicity, with a gloomy gray-brown colour on top, light underparts, and a little cinnamon tinge on the rump. A variety of vocalisations are used by this flycatcher, including a sequence of high notes and buzzing and tinkling tones.
