Description
This fairly large-sized bird measuring about 38 cm in length with stubby gull-like bill is known as Gull-billed Tern. It has light greyish mantle, white head and underparts and black spot behind eye. During the breeding season, the upperparts of Gull-billed Tern become greyer and turned entire crown to black. Unlike the other tern, this species prefers to catches small aquatic and terrestrial prey on mudbanks rather than dive into the water to catch the fish (Strange & Jeyarajasingam, 1993).
