Description
Hirundapus giganteus or commonly known as Brown needletail is a large sized swift measuring about 25 cm in length (Strange & Jeyarajasingam, 1993). Generally, this species has dark brown plumages but appears as black during flight. It also has bronzy back, whitish chin and white undertail coverts. The Brown needletail is common in Peninsular Malaysia and throughout the oriental region (Strange & Jeyarajasingam, 1993). It can be found in lowland and montane rainforest.
