The Streaked bulbul (Ixos malaccensis) is a songbird species which can grow up to 23 cm long. It is endemic throughout Sundaland (Strange & Jeyarajasingam, 1993) where it can be found in Myanmar, Thailand, Malaysia, Indonesia and Brunei (BirdLife International, 2016). In Peninsular Malaysia, this species is known to inhabit lowland rainforest.
In general, Streaked bulbul has dark olive-brown upperparts as well as white undertail coverts and belly. It also has grey throat and breast with white streaks, which can easily distinguish Streaked bulbul from another lowland bulbul (Jeyarajasingam & Pearson, 2012). Due to habitat loss, this bird has been listed as Near Threatened by the IUCN Red List (BirdLife International, 2020).
