Description
Lonchura maja or White-headed Munia is known locally as Pipit Uban. It belongs to the family Estrildidae (estrildid finch). This bird can reach up to 11 cm in length (Strange & Jeyarajasingam, 1993). The White-headed Munia as its name applied has a white head and upper breast. In contrast with its head, it has brown iris, bluish grey bill and dark chestnut plumage. It can be found through Malay Peninsula to Sumatra, Java and Bali. It is quite common to see this species in open grassland, rice fields, shrubs and gardens.
