Description
A small common bird of hill forest, Phyllergates cuculatus is commonly known as Mountain Tailorbird. The tailorbirds get their name from the way their nest is constructed. The edges of a large leaf are pierced and sewn together with plant fibres or spider's web to make a cradle in which the actual grass nest is built.
The adult stage of Mountain Tailorbird has chestnut crown, pale eyebrow, greyish nape and face grading into olive upperparts and whitish breast; entire abdomen, flanks and under tail-coverts are yellow. As for the juvenile, it is similar to the adult but it has an olive-green crown instead.
