Description
A recent study has found that this species has been split into two, which is Orthotomus ruficeps and Orthotomus sepium, where the former is being found in Malay Peninsula, while the latter is being found in Java, Bali, Madura and Lombok, Indonesia (Avibase, 2020).
This small, tiny bird, commonly known as Olive-backed Tailorbird Tailorbird is measuring about 12 cm in length. It belongs to the family Cisticolidae. The male has slaty-grey plumage, rufous-chestnut face and white belly while the female is similar but duller compared to male. It is not an easy bird to spot as it mostly moves about low inside the vegetation and flies quickly from bush to bush (Strange & Jeyarajasingam, 1993).
