Description
Pericrocotus flammeus or commonly known as Scarlet minivet is a species of bird belongs to the Campephagidae family. It can grow up to 19 cm in length (Strange & Jeyarajasingam, 1993) and inhabits lowland rainforest up to 1000 m above sea level (Jeyarajasingam & Pearson, 2012). The male’s Scarlet minivet has black head, throat and upperparts. It also has red underparts with patches on its wings. In contrast with male, the female species has slate-grey head and upperparts with bright yellow underparts up to the forehead (Strange & Jeyarajasingam, 1993).
