Description
Arctic Warbler or Cekup Artik in Malay (Jamaludin et al., 2007) is a very common visitor from the northern winter area. This warbler is a resident breeder in northern Europe to Siberia and migrates to southern China and South-East Asia throughout Indonesian Archipelago to the Moluccas during winter. In Malaysia, this species can be found from low elevations up to 1,000 m above sea level. This species usually inhabits forests, forest edges, mangroves, plantations and wooded gardens where it can be seen on the canopy and crowns of smaller trees, foraging insects from the foliage (Jeyarajasingam & Pearson, 2012; Phillipps, 2014).
The Arctic Warbler has olive-green upperparts with greyish tinge on the crown. It also has long and clear yellowish-white supercilium and whitish underparts with greyish wash on breast (Strange & Jeyarajasingam, 1993; Jeyarajasingam & Pearson, 2012).
