Description
Pygmy Wren-babbler or Kekicau-rimba Kerdil in Malay is a small size bird with tailless appearance measuring around 9 cm in length. It has dark brown upperpart with pale spotting on wings and its lowers back. The underparts are whitish with black scaly markings. It utters a high pitch whistle of ‘peeeeeee-peeeeeee’ (Strange & Jeyarajasingam, 1993; Jeyarajasingam & Pearson, 2012).
This bird is widely distributed across the Oriental region which ranges from the Himalayas, southern China through South-East Asia and the Peninsular Malaysia to Sumatra and Java. This species can be found in the montane forest where it inhabits the ground storey. It can also be seen along the forest paths (Strange & Jeyarajasingam, 1993; Jeyarajasingam & Pearson, 2012).
