Description
The Rufescent prinia (Prinia rufescens) is a species of bird belongs to the Cisticolidae family. It has a small-sized, slender build body measuring around 12 cm in length with a long tail. This bird is widely distributed in the Oriental region which ranges from the Himalayas through South-East Asia to Peninsular Malaysia. In Peninsular Malaysia, this bird is a common resident of lowland rainforest up to 1,500 m above sea level (Strange & Jeyarajasingam, 1993; Jeyarajasingam & Pearson, 2012).
In the time of breeding, the Rufescent prinia appears with a grey head, dark rufescent brown upperparts and whitish underparts together with white eyebrows. Whereas, the bird will have a rufescent brown head and underparts during non-breeding time (Strange & Jeyarajasingam, 1993). It produces a sharp monotonous call of ‘chuip-chuip-chuip’ (Jeyarajasingam & Pearson, 2012).
