Description
Prionochilus percussus, also known as Crimson-breasted Flowerpecker is a species of bird belonging to the family Dicaeidae. It is a small and tiny bird that can be found in lowland forests and forest edges in understorey.
In common with other flowerpeckers, the Crimson-breasted Flowerpecker can reach up to 10 cm in length. The male has greyish-blue upperparts from crown to its tail, yellow underparts with a red patch on the centre of its breast, red patch on top of its crown and obscure white moustache streak. Different from the male, female species has greyish-olive upperparts, paler and greyer underparts with yellowish centre down the breast and abdomen; obscure orange patch on its crown and whitish moustache streak.
