Description
Spectacled Bulbul (Rubigula erythropthalmos) is a small bulbul measuring around 16 cm. This bird is quite similar to the Red-eyed Bulbul but instead has orange orbital rings surrounding its eyes with a slender build and generally paler appearance. It can be found from Myanmar, through the Malay Peninsula to Sumatra, Borneo and intervening islands. It is quite common to observe this bird in primary and secondary lowland rainforests at low elevations of up to 900 m above sea level. Normally, the Spectacled Bulbul is seen in small parties at fruiting trees and shrubs with other bulbuls (Jeyarajasingam, 2012).
