The Yellow-vented Bulbul (Pycnonotus goiavier) is a member of the bulbul family of passerine birds. It is the commonest of all the bulbuls and can be found in a wide variety of open habitats, but not in deep forests. The Yellow-vented Bulbul eats berries and small fruits. It also sips nectar, nibbles on young shoots, and feeds on some insects.
This species has brown upperparts and a chalky white head with a dark crown and dark stripes through its eyes. The underparts are white with tinged brownish-grey on its breast which looks faintly mottled and also a pale yellow under tail-coverts (Strange & Jeyarajasingam, 1993).
