Description
The Grey-throated Babbler or commonly known as Kekicau Tekak Kelabu in Malay can grow up to 14 cm in length. This bird is widely distributed in the Oriental region ranging from the Himalayas to Thailand, Malay Peninsula, Sumatra and Borneo. It mainly found at submontane and montane elevations where it can be seen in small groups of 4–6 birds (Strange & Jeyarajasingam, 1993).
This babbler can be identified by the olive-brown plumage, white streak on black crown and grey throat with broad malar stripe. It produces a melodious high-pitched whistle of ‘ti-hi-hi-hi-hi’ continuously for 3 – 4 seconds (Jeyarajasingam & Pearson, 2012).
