Description
Scientifically known as Sula leucogaster or Angsa Laut in Malay, Brown Booby is a large-sized seabird measuring about 74 cm. It has a dark brown plumage in contrast with the white on belly, wing lining, undertail coverts and bill. The male can be differentiated by bare facial skin and blue base of bill. Meanwhile the female has a whitish bill base. In contrast, the juvenile has a similar appearance as the adult with pale brown replacing all the white parts. It mainly hunts in small groups catching fish by diving into the water (Strange & Jeyarajasingam, 1993; Jeyarajasingam & Pearson, 2012).
