Description
This fungus has bright lemon yellow, spherical fruit bodies and slightly flattened at the. It has smooth surface of fruit body at first, later with small dark brown to black scales and more densely concentrated at the apex than at the sides. When mature, the apex ruptures releasing the dark grey, powdery spores and finally leaving behind a flattened yellow ‘skin’. This fungus grows singly or in small groups of a few fruit bodies and is commonly found in the FRIM grounds growing under various dipterocarps and also found in lowland rainforests in Peninsular Malaysia.
