Blacktip Reef Shark has a moderately stout body. The snout is very short, broadly rounded and preoral length subequal to internarial space. The upper teeth have narrow oblique central cusp and low basal cusplets while the lower teeth are narrow, upright to oblique and finely serrated edges. It has large first dorsal fin, its apex narrowly rounded and its origin over inner margins of pectoral fins while the second dorsal fin is high, its inner margin less than twice the fin height. The colour this shark is yellow brown dorsally, distinct pale stripe along each flank; first dorsal fin with a thick black tip; caudal fin lower lobe with thick black tip while other fins often with smaller black tips. This species can grow up to a maximum length of 200 cm (Fishbase, n.d.).
