This shark is commonly known as Brownbanded Bombooshark. It has elongated body and moderately snout without lateral ridges. Its mouth is closer to eyes than snout tip. It has dorsal fins which is larger than pelvic fins, anal-fin base shorter than caudal-fin lobe between lower origin and subterminal notch. This Brownbanded Bombooshark is plain dark gray or with faint grayish bands in colour; with dark transverse bands usually with a scattering of small dark spots in juveniles. The maximum size of this species is 1 m.
