Description

This species is called Sharksucker and it has elongate body; large sucking disc with 18-28 laminae; lanceolate caudal fin in young; almost truncate in adults with upper and lower lobes longer than middle rays and pointed pectoral fins. Its body is gray to blackish with a white-edged black stripe from tip of lower jaw to caudal fin base; upper and lower margins of fins whitish in juveniles; blackish pectoral fins and grayish to whitish pelvic fins. It is often found at free-swimming and occurring in inshore waters but temporary attaching to a wide variety of hosts such as sharks, sea turtles and ships.
