Description

Spottail Needlefish has elongate body and rounded belly; no caudal peduncle keel; lateral line with pectoral branch; elongate jaws and absent gill rakers. It has dorsal and anal fins with moderate lobes anteriorly; not falcate pectoral fin and rounded or truncate caudal fin. It has silvery white body, grayish to greenish dorsally; no markings on body sides and caudal fin with a prominent round black spot dorsally. It inhabits in coastal areas and mangrove with maximum size 40 cm SL.
