Description

Neuropeltis racemosa is a type of liana, which is usually found growing in the old secondary forest but rarely in virgin forest.

It is one of the large woody climbers. The young stems are mostly brown tomentose while mature stems are glabrescent. The fruits are generally in green colour, which is similar to the leaf. The leaves are leathery. The length of the petiole is around 1–1.5 cm, while the shape of the leaf blade is elliptic to elliptic-oblong, measuring 6–12 × 2–6.5 cm. The base of the leaves is broadly cuneate to attenuate into the petiole. There are around 1-6 inflorescences per axil. The sepals are unequal, densely pubescent abaxially. The outer 2 sepals are circular or slightly wider than the long, measuring 2–2.5 mm, while the inner 3 sepals are wider than the long, measuring 1.75–2 mm. The corolla is white colour and broadly campanulate, measuring around 5 mm. The capsule is nearly globose, measuring 5–6 mm in diameter.

This species is distributed in China, Southeast Asia, to Malesia (including Sumatra, Peninsular Malaysia and Borneo). The flowering season for this liana is during April, June, and November, while the fruiting season is from January to April (Staples & Syahida-Emiza, 2015).
