Description

Anisophyllea reticulata is a species of plant belongs to family Anisophylleaceae. The epithet name ‘reticulata’ is derived from Latin word, ‘reticulate’ means net-like which refer to the intercostal venation of its lamina. This species is endemic in Peninsular Malaysia. It grows mainly in lowland forest and on a ridge top at about 180 m altitude (Kiew et al., 2018).

The tree with reddish-brown bark can reach up to 20 m tall. Its inner bark is dull pink in colour. The bole is 35 cm in diameter and slightly fluted at base. The sapwood is white-cream with strong radial rays. The leaves are elliptic to ovate with petiole 1.5-2 cm long. This species has an axillary and unbranched to once-branched spike inflorescences. Its ellipsoid drupes are green with rough warty surface (Kiew et al., 2018).
