Description

Flowering in April, Cleisostoma subulatum flowers is about 8.5 – 12 mm broad and the colour of sepals and petals are reddish brown with or without pale yellow band in the middle. This orchid flower colours varies considerably on the plant’s range, as does the reddish colourations on the leaves. Its stem pendulous is horizontal or sometimes turning up near the apices at about 30 – 40 cm long while its bearing leaves measure at about 2 - 3 cm apart. The leaves of this species are fleshy, thick and V-channeled. The species is known to have occurrence records in all over South-east Asia from Assam in the west to Ambon in the east. In Peninsular Malaysia, this species was found throughout the lowland especially near the coasts.
