Description

Dendrobium secundum is one of the most widely cultivated species and therefore is easily spread to other parts of the country. The stems of this species are close together which covered with white papery sheaths and its leaves are lanceolate, shiny and bilobed equally apex. The inflorescences of this species measure at about 7 – 8 long with one or two flowers from the leafless part and many closely-spaced flowers pointing to one side. The flowers of this species are spirally arranged and bright mauve-pink. This species is flowering from March to May and from October to December. The distribution of this species occurs in Myanmar to Indochina, Malaysia and Sumatra to the Philippines. In Peninsular Malaysia, this species only recorded in the wild in the lowlands of the northern states. In Perlis, this species was found in most of the hills.
