Pyrrosia rasamalae is a type of fern that belongs to the family Polypodiaceae. The long-creeping rhizomes are 1-3 mm thick. The rhizome scales 4-9.5 x 0.4-1.3 mm long and spreading, it is light brown or hyaline. The fronds are monomorphic and stalked. The lamina or the leaves are measured around 3.5-36 x 0.3-1.4 cm. The sori are apical or spread all over the lamina.
The genus Pyrrosia is derived from a Greek word, pyrrho meaning reddish; while the species epithet referring to the location of the type specimen, G. Ramasala, Java.
It is distributed from Myanmar to Sumatra, Java, Peninsular Malaysia and Sabah, Singapore, the Philippines, and Lesser Sunda Island. It is an epiphytic fern on tree trunks and Cyathea tree ferns, lithophytic or on earth banks. The conservation status of this fern is Least Concern in Peninsular Malaysia (Hovenkamp, 2013).
