Taxonomy

Description

Dendrobium leonis is an orchid species which is flowering from March to April and has a variety flower colouration, particularly in the amount of purple and vanilla scent. The stems of this species are about 15 cm long, flattened and leafy along their length with leaves about 1 cm apart on either side. The leaves are laterally flattened, not overlapping except at the base and its sheaths measures at about 1.5 cm long by 6.5 cm broad. Only one flower at a time, the inflorescences of this species arise from the stem apices. The distribution of this species occurs all over lowlands of Peninsular Malaysia and Borneo.
