The Blue Malaysian Coral Snake is a beautiful snake belonging to the family Elapidae. It has a very dark iridescent blue body with a red tail and head. It bears a narrow blue or purplish line along the two lower body scales and the ventral surface is red. It has a fading red vertebral stripe. It likely preys on other snakes and probably lizards and frogs. It is known to lay 1-3 eggs in a clutch. There are three subspecies whereby only two subspecies occur in Malaysia, which is the C. b. flaviceps and C. b. tetrataenia. It inhabits lowland forest up to submontane at 1,200 m a.s.l. (Das, 2010).
